Fantasy Football Tight Ends Week 1 Notes

  • The top five Tight Ends in FanDuel and DraftKings are unanimous: Greg Olsen, Jordan Reed, Jimmy Graham, Tyler Eifert, and Delanie Walker. Note what injuries Jordan Reed and Tyler Eifert have before week 1 to determine their true value. For that reason, Olsen, Graham, and Walker are more reliable tier 1 choices. Those three also have great first week matchups, so feel free to play one of them with confidence.
  • OJ Howard, the Tampa Bay rookie, appears in the top 10 of FanDuel’s list. While an impressive talent, Tight Ends often don’t make an immediate impact and its hard to say what will happen in this case. We recommend staying away from Howard until he proves himself. Howard is TE17 in DraftKings which is a much better price for a boom or bust tournament option.
  • Jack Doyle is TE8 on DraftKing’s list. Due to uncertainty with Andrew Luck, we don’t like his value here. Like Howard, he is TE14 on FanDuel which is an okay boom or bust situation.
  • Martellus Bennett is an interesting fantasy option. Now in Green Bay and coming off a nice season in New England, Green Bay has a good matchup against Seattle on week 1 and Bennett could be a good red zone target. If you like Bennett, consider him as a decent plug and play.
