NFL High Scoring Games: Week 1
Oakland Raiders at Tennessee Titans
Last year, Oakland games went over 50 total points 9 times, best in the league. The Titans went over 50 points 7 times, which means that this game has shootout written all over it. With Marcus Mariota having more targets than ever, we like his lower salary to score more relative points. Flip a coin and pick either Eric Decker or Corey Davis for your chance to double up points (Decker is a safer play). Consider old faithful Delanie Walker at Tight End and maximize points at that position. On the Oakland side, Amari Cooper is the obvious choice, but Michael Crabtree has a tendency to score and could exceed Cooper’s points at a cheaper cost.
Atlanta Falcons at Chicago Bears
Chicago is projected as one of the highest scoring games of the week, despite them having little talent on offense outside of Jordan Howard. That means Vegas must like Matt Ryan and the Falcons to score a ton of points. Devonta Freeman should be on a mission to live up to his new contract and could receive 20+ touches in the game. Julio Jones carries a heavy premium, but consider Mohamed Sanu or Taylor Gabriel as sneaky plays to score. A trendy pick is Austin Hooper at Tight End, who is a prime candidate to break out in his second professional year. On the bears side, Kevin White gives good value to score some points in garbage time to make this an NFL high scoring week 1 candidate.
Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers
Both teams have uncertainty at the Running Back position, which should bode well for Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball around. Doug Baldwin and Jordy Nelson are safe plays, but save salary and consider Tyler Lockett and Randall Cobb as high upside players. Seattle loves to dump it off to their Running Backs, and CJ Prosise is an under the radar player who could make an impact on limited touches.
